Registration open: Explore museums, wellbeing and resilience at
NEMO European Museum Conference 2025
Registration is now open for the NEMO European Museum Conference ‘Who cares?
Museums, wellbeing, and resilience’, taking place from 26–28 October in Horsens,
Denmark. Over three days, museum professionals from across Europe and beyond will
gather for insightful discussions, meaningful connections, and cross-sector
collaboration.
As museums increasingly recognise their role in supporting wellbeing, social connection,
and therapeutic experiences, the Network of European Museum Organisations (NEMO)
invites professionals from the museum, cultural, and health sectors to explore how
museums can contribute to wellbeing and resilience – and to help shape the future of
museum practice.

Caring together for resilient museums
The main venue FÆNGSLET, a former prison thoughtfully transformed into a museum
and cultural centre, offers an evocative setting to explore how museums can support
mental health, wellbeing, and community resilience.
This year’s programme focuses on the expanding role of museums as spaces for healing,
engagement, and social impact. Highlights include:
Cross-sector collaboration between culture and healthcare
Organisational resilience and staff wellbeing
Youth mental health and engagement
Trauma-informed and care-centred museum practices
Interactive workshops, insightful study visits, and plenty of networking
Travel grants available for South and Central-Eastern Europe
To encourage broader participation, NEMO is offering five travel and conference grants
(up to €500 each) for museum professionals based in South and Central-Eastern Europe
who are actively involved in wellbeing initiatives and committed to international
collaboration.
The conference is co-organised by NEMO – the Network of European Museum
Organisations, Museum Horsens, and the Danish Museums Association, with support by
Central Denmark Region and European Region of Culture, and thanks to co-funding by
the European Union.
