Director for Kunstsilo
Beskrivning
A world-class art museum
Located in the heart of Kristiansand in southern Norway, Kunstsilo is much more than an art museum. This architectural landmark houses the world’s largest collection of Nordic modernism and is both a meeting place for culture and creativity and an instrument for artistic innovation. Kunstsilo is set to become one of the most influential art museums in the Nordic region, and is now looking for an executive director who can reach this target.
Through art and visitor experiences, Kunstsilo moves, enriches, inspires and tears down walls. The museum aims to remove barriers, to open doors, to invite and include – to be a space where everyone is welcome, as well as to promote social evolution by challenging and provoking.
As Kunstsilo’s executive director, you will set the standard for what a modern art museum can be by bringing the world’s best exhibitions to Kristiansand. You will develop and implement strategies that position Kunstsilo as a spearhead on the global art scene, as well as promote innovation by creating and supporting bold, visionary projects and exhibitions that challenge boundaries and explore new ideas.
We are looking for an ambitious, goal-driven leader with a strong track record and a proven ability to achieve results. You are able to develop and implement groundbreaking ideas, and you inspire and involve your team by creating a culture where everything is possible. You are passionate about art and understand the ever-changing demands on a world-class museum. You are capable of building strong relationships across different communities and cultures and welcome the chance to engage in public debate. As a leader, you identify with Kunstsilo’s values: Brave, dynamic, inclusive, broad-minded. Together with an excellent team, you will manage and strengthen an inclusive and inspiring space where visitors and staff feel valued and motivated.
To succeed in the role, you should preferably live in the Kristiansand region. The ability to communicate in one of the Scandinavian languages would also be an advantage. The position is a five-year, fixed-term appointment, with the opportunity to extend.
Are you ready to take Kunstsilo to new heights? If so, contact Visindi’s Mona Wille, phone: +47 402 15 106; Tonje Støver Knutsen, phone: +47 477 10 611; or Anna Camilla Øynes, phone: +47 414 73 696. Please submit your application and CV no later than 13 August 2024.
About the company
A former grain silo at Odderøya in Kristiansand, Kunstsilo has been transformed into one of Northern Europe’s most innovative powerhouses for art and cultural experiences. The award-winning museum is the permanent home of the Tangen Collection, the world’s largest collection of Nordic modernism, as well as the Southern Norway Art Collection. Visitors will also find international digital contemporary art, temporary exhibitions and an extensive programme of lectures, concerts, culinary experiences, workshops and other events. In addition, the possibility to hire the museum’s premises as a venue for meetings and special occasions, guided group tours of the building and exhibitions, and high-quality food and beverages, are key to creating diversity and activity in a building such as Kunstsilo. Each year, the organisation’s almost 90 employees will serve around 150,000 visitors from across the world.
